Upload Your Music For Free With CD Baby

Uploading music for free has teeth.

Uploading your music for free comes with some drawbacks when distributing your music on Spotify, Amazon and Apple Music. In fact, show me a music upload site that does this for free? Today you will learn about the costs involved including your free option to upload your music online for distribution using an aggregation service called CD Baby.

You can upload a Song or upload an Album.

Sign Up Then Set Your Pay Point.

After signing up, choose how you received royalties for your music and what amount of payment are sent once they’re reached. For example, the default royalty payment is USD25.00. So, every Monday if you have more than USD25.00 of royalties owing to you. CD Baby will pay this amount once it reaches more than USD25.00.

The amount you set when to collect royalties.

Transaction fee for receiving royalty payment

Choose Paypal, direct bank, bank Cheque or Payoneer as your collecting royalty payment method for this USD25.00 royalty payment. To transfer and deposit this royalty money each week on Monday you may be charged a small fee of USD2-2.50 dependent of where you live and what royalty payment system you’ve chosen.

Choose to receive direct bank deposit for your weekly royalty payment for your songs and live in the U.S you don’t need to pay a fee. If you live outside the U.S and live internationally you’ll have to pay a fee of USD2.50 to get your royalty payment deposited direct to your bank account each time you receive it.

Live in the U.S or outside internationally and collect royalty payments from CD baby through bank check, you’ll also be up for a transaction fee of USD2.00. They don’t say about internationally on their form but if you click on the ? icon next to payment methods they explain more about your royalty transaction fees. Cd Baby advises you to choose another paperless form of receiving money when you opt for this option.

4 choices to collect your royalties payments with fees.

Collecting royalty payments for your music through PayPal incurs a USD2.00 fee each time you receive this royalty payment.

Their last option is Payoneer. It appears to be free. But it’s not. Once you sign up through Payoneer and collect royalty payments for your music through this service you’ll be charged USD1.00 for a loading payment each time your royalty amount is loaded into your Payoneer account. Plus, a USD1.00 payment service fee for receiving the payment. Which amounts to USD2.00 per transaction for collecting your royalty payments for your music.

You can’t avoid paying these transaction fees to receive your royalty payment. But you can increase your default amount from USD25.00 through to USD10,000 If you choose a higher royalty payment amount this means you won’t be collecting your royalty payments as much.

For Example

Increase your royalty payment amount to be placed into your PayPal account from USD25.00 to USD250.00 It would be weeks or months until you reach this amount of royalty payments for your music dependent on how popular you and your music are. So CD Baby will hold onto your money until this amount is reached then pay it into your account on a Monday as explain by them then you pay a transaction fee of USD2.00 for collecting USD250.00 of royalty payments from selling or streaming your music.
